WITH THE WHOLE CHILD IN MIND
Frisco Montessori Academy is conveniently located one-half mile north of Main Street (Highway 720) right off of Preston Road (Highway 289) at 8890 Meadow Hill Drive in Frisco, Texas. FMA, Frisco's first Montessori school, was founded in January 1998, by certified Montessori teachers who wanted to make a difference. As teachers, not just owners, they saw the needs of the children, the classroom, and the parents through a different perspective. Through their daily experiences, they were able to recognize what worked for the children and what did not. That was the beginning of their dream. That was when they decided to do everything possible to bring about an exemplary school with a quality staff, which would provide a superior education where both the children and their parents would be happy: a place where parent involvement would not only be welcomed but would be strongly encouraged. A place where the owners would be on the premises everyday, working closely with both the children and the parents to build strong, caring relationships.
FMA opened its doors with five classrooms: two Pre-Primary classrooms, and three Primary classrooms. The facility included a computer room and two playgrounds. Enrollment upon opening was forty children, two through six years of age. By the end of May 1998, enrollment climbed to over 100 students.
In August 1999, FMA received its AMS Affiliation. The school expanded to house an additional Pre-Primary classroom, two additional Primary classrooms and a Lower Elementary classroom. The expansion also included a Music/Drama classroom, a Spanish classroom, a Library area, and a third playground. Accessible from each classroom is one of three state-of-the-art fenced playgrounds and shaded picnic areas.
By the fall of 1999, Frisco Montessori Academy was recognized as one of the Small Business Success Stories over the last ten years by the Small Business Development Center of Collin County.
In the winter of 2002, a gazebo and an “outside classroom” were added inside the “Children’s Garden” for Nature Study.
In the fall of 2003, Frisco Montessori Academy’s Elementary Program expanded to include two Lower Elementary classrooms and one Upper Elementary classroom educating children through the fifth grade. The building expansion also incorporated a multi-purpose, half-court gymnasium.
During the summer of 2007, FMA proudly announced the addition of an Art Classroom, another Pre-Primary class as well as another Upper Elementary class. This expansion increased the number of classrooms to include three Pre-Primary classes, five Primary classes, two Lower Elementary classes, and two Upper Elementary classes.
Frisco Montessori Academy celebrated its Nineteenth Year Anniversary in January 2017. For over nineteen years, FMA has been dedicated to provide children with a superior education together with a love of learning. FMA remains committed to continue to offer each student a solid foundation and the tools to build a future measured in achievements and success.
